Women’s only sneaker e-tailer Second Store has launched to the market, stocking an exclusive mix of brands, including Saucony, Superga, Karhu, Veja, Spring Court, Norman Walsh as well as Rose Rankin and Good News London.
The store was established by Leeds-based Rosie Lyness, former fashion buyer and lover of all things sneakers, in Leeds. The name is based on French philosopher Simone de Beauvoir’s seminal feminist text, The Second Sex, and aims to subvert the bias in the sneaker industry towards males. Second store focuses on female empowerment and its mission is to ensure sneaker fans feel confident and stylish in their kicks.
“I am so excited to finally have launched Second Store, it is something I have dreamed of doing for a very long time so to see it come to life is pretty magical. I can’t wait to build the site into every girls’ go-to sneaker store,” says Lyness.
Second Store is rapidly gathering a band of ‘Second Sisters’ who collaborate with the store, sharing their stories, artwork and music in order to bring the female sneaker scene to life. This spirit of collaboration, sharing and Sisterhood is central to the mission of Second Store.
