Textile manufacturing and sourcing event Fashion SVP has announced that Kim Winser OBE, founder and CEO of Winser London, will address delegates on the impact of digital retail on sourcing strategies at the forthcoming event on 16 January at London’s Olympia.
Kim Winser was the youngest and first female Director of Marks & Spencer, leading the womenswear growth and development during the late 1990’s, chief executive and partial owner of Pringle of Scotland, global president & CEO of Aquascutum, and special advisor to Natalie Massenet at Net-a-Porter. She was awarded an OBE in 2006 for her services to the British fashion and retail industries.
Winser will discuss how ‘digital retail is demanding new sourcing strategies’ at the event, highlighting the changing nature of sourcing and the role that technology and data will play in the future – drawing on experiences from various companies, including her own digitally based fashion business, Winser London.
“We know that customer lifestyles and their demands for fashion is developing at a pace and these changes impact the nature of traditional sourcing,” she comments. “Retailers need to be nimble in their response to changing desires, they will need to analyse customer behaviour, engage in new ways more relevant to their lifestyles to succeed in the marketplace. The supply chain will no longer be forecast-led, and will instead become demand-driven which means businesses need to review their people talent, their structures and ways of working. I am looking forward to debating this vital issue with attendees at the show.”
Buzz Carter, Fashion SVP event director, adds: “We are delighted to welcome Kim to the show for the first time. Her track record and experience in the world of leading fashion brands is exemplary, and her varied and extensive knowledge will give a unique perspective on how businesses need to evolve to meet the changing nature of purchasing and sourcing.”
The seminar forms part of a strong line-up of sessions (free to attend for all show visitors) running at Fashion SVP. Alongside the seminar programme is an exhibition of over 100 suppliers from Europe and the Mediterranean, covering all aspects of apparel production. Fashion SVP takes place at London’s iconic venue Olympia and attracts buyers, sourcing professionals, designers, product developers and merchandisers from across Europe.
Kim Winser’s session will take place at 12.30 on 16 January 2018 in the Sourcing Briefing Theatre at Fashion SVP. Registration is free at www.fashionsvp.com.
