Canadian womenswear brand Joseph Ribkoff has announced the appointment of John Gunn as new CEO.
Outgoing CEO John Ferraro will remain active in the company, both as a manager and partner, and will take on the more creative role of executive vice president, design and product development.
At Joseph Ribkoff’s since 1993, including the last seven years as CEO, Ferraro has helped the brand achieve today’s success, expanding into more than 64 international markets, modernising and adapting it to new platforms, and reaching double-digit annual growth figures.
“We want to take the business to the next level and it’s important for us to find the level of expertise to do that. Design and product development are the two things that excite me the most, and I think it’s a good time for me to lead the creative team and focus more on collections than on the operational side of things. I am proud of the changes the company is making and I am happy to be part of its future. I am convinced that Joseph Ribkoff’s best days are ahead of us and that, thanks to the talents in place, we will experience extraordinary growth over the next few years,” says Ferraro.
John Gunn arrives at Joseph Ribkoff from Bentley, where he was CEO and president since November 2013 and oversaw the development and implementation of the company’s long-term and short-term strategy and objectives, as well as managed all of the company’s operations and resources.
Previously, he held several senior management positions in Canada and the United States, including as president of Esprit Americas, Mexx, and for nine years as executive vice president at Tommy Hilfiger. Commenting on his appointment, he says: “We will continue to emphasize Joseph Ribkoff’s ongoing commitment to developing the best ready-to-wear collections and provide the best service to our customers.”
