British heritage brand Hunter has opened its third global standalone store in Toronto. Set within Yorkdale Shopping Centre, the store will be Hunter’s first in North America.
The concept for the 2800 ft2 store was developed by Hunter’s in-house retail design team and demonstrates the brand’s commitment to North America as one of the brand’s largest markets. Set within the new extension of Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre on the ground floor – the highest sales mall per ft2 in Canada – it is a major development in the region.
The interior architectural style anchored by a singular and focal moment, reveals the sky and exposes the space to the elements, with the stores internal envelope acting as a protective canvas to the external landscape lining the perimeter of the space. Visitors ‘look out’ from the contemporary barn architecture onto a backdrop of the Scottish Highlands – the birthplace of the Hunter brand. In addition to this, in store weather elements will be changed seasonally.
The shopfront will be reminiscent of a contemporary greenhouse, giving the sense that the sky is surrounding customers upon entry where they are immediately immersed into the brand world of Hunter. The store design is a celebration of elements of Hunter’s DNA – from its own values and story-telling to the pioneering spirit of the outdoors and weather.
“Toronto’s diversity and vibrancy makes it one of North America’s most exciting places to be and reflects the Hunter ethos, which is why it’s where we decided to open our third standalone store and the brand’s first in North America,” says Alasdhair Willis, creative director.
Hunter’s Yorkdale store is showcasing the autumn/winter 2017 mens, womens and kids Hunter Original footwear, outerwear and accessories collections alongside the Hunter Field technical collection.
