Dear Freedom was founded in 2015 in Vilnius, Lithuania, by Rasa Barkauskiene and Kristina Bausiene, two close friends who shared the simple vision to do something that would feel great for the heart and the soul. Kristina, the brand’s designer, was exploring her talent in art and fashion illustration, while brand manager Rasa was searching for something new and challenging with focus on fashion.
Both co-founders of Dear Freedom had a professional career in the financial sector when they decided to challenge themselves by establishing a start-up in the field of fashion. Followed by a long process of brainstorming, mind mapping, strategic thinking and creative drawing, as well as focused studies on fashion management and on fashion design, Dear Freedom was launched.
Functionality, timelessness, comfort and attention to detail are the forefront of the brand’s philosophy. Minimal, clean and architectural silhouettes define the aesthetic, while modern basics are key features that aim to be forever wearable. Pleats and innovative accents (especially top-stitched details) have become the signature of Dear Freedom.
The brand works with high quality, natural fabrics in creative ways, and all are cut and stitched locally in Lithuania by professional tradesmen.
Key pieces in the latest s/s 18 collection include the striped long coat, striped culottes, an asymmetric long jumpsuit and short wool coat. Blue dominates the colour scheme but is also enriched with white, black and yellow, with silks, cottons and wool making up the foundations of the range.
The brand sits alongside the likes of Acne Studio, APC and AQ/AQ, and has just entered the UK market, currently finalising orders from a number of independent boutiques. Wholesale prices range between £70 to £210.
