British heritage and lifestyle brand Barbour is launching a debut collaboration with renowned British designer Margaret Howell, creating a women’s capsule collection inspired by Barbour archives that date back to 1910.
Designed by Howell in conjunction with Barbour’s menswear design team, the collaboration will launch for a/w 18 and will spearhead the Barbour Timeless Originals collection. First launched for a/w 16, the Timeless Originals collections is a womenswear line created by the menswear design team in response to women wearing men’s wax jackets to get a boxier oversized fit.
“Margaret Howell represents classicism, quality and understated style in all of her collections. She designs for a modern silhouette with a simplicity in cut and shape that creates a relaxed and natural look, and we are very excited to be working with her,” says Ian Bergin, director of menswear at Barbour.
Margaret Howell says: “As an admirer of The Barbour and living with one myself for many years, I was thrilled to be asked to collaborate with the company. Delving into their archive was a real joy and very stimulating. It is great to be working with one of our heritage clothing manufacturers. For me it’s very satisfying to work on purposeful clothing that is well made and made to last.”
